Re-posted from MUSINGS OF A NEW ENGLANDER

2012-12-24 09.34.45
At the end of each December, people make a list of resolutions that they will try to accomplish in the new year. I am no exception. I keep mine simple and tend to use the same ones for they are what I need to try to concentrate on.
1-Try to eat right and exercise- For the most part I been doing well with this.
2-Save a little bit of money each month- This one well I am soso on. We all know when emergency hits the saving get plundered.
3-Try to treat others like you want to be treated- I can work on this more.
I might have some stragglers in the four and fifth spots but my primary ones are listed above. That was until I came across something on Facebook that made me pause. The post mentioned to get a jar out and every time something nice happens regardless how small, place that on a piece of paper and put it in the container. By the end of 2013 empty it and see how many awesome things happened that you probably forgot occurred.
I really love this idea. We tend to narrow in on the big events in our lives. The items that made us pause and wonder about. The little things sometimes get overlooked or just completely forgotten. So I have decided to do this for the year 2013. I am already excited to see what will be placed in the jar. The little things that made my day but got left at the waste side due to the hectic way of life. Perhaps this happens since it was not earth shattering by today’s standards. Maybe this will change my perception, I really hope it does.
Happy New Year every one. With that I hope it is an amazing year and that along the way you don’t ignore the little things in life that are just as important.

About

Sharon is a native of New England, raised in Northern Maine. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and son. She is owned by a flock of 8 birds.
Growing up Sharon never thought of becoming a writer. To her it was for people who had the skills to transfer amazing ideas onto paper. However her husband had mentioned to one of their friends that he felt Sharon wrote really well. Soon afterwards she started thinking of a story in her head and it just would not go away. Later that same year of 2009 she had two surgeries within 3 months of each other. With time to recover, she started placing her thoughts on paper and it just went from there. Since then a multitude of short stores, a novelette and a children’s book has been written. It always amazes her still how writing will take over a person’s life.
Sharon has a B.S. Degree in Chemistry but is currently disabled so writing keeps her busy. She tends to lose all track of time. The world could be coming to an end and Sharon would be oblivious to it. When this author is writing, she envision the scenes in her head. She try to imaging the reality of what is written down on paper. The different options, scenes and problems will be listed down on the side in case it can use them later. Sharon tend to write by long hand- the flow works better for her.
The authors you would see in her bookshelves would be Stephen King, Agatha Christie, Bentley Little and James Patterson.
The best advice she has ever received about writing was write about what you know. When she first heard this the first thought was “ Yeah right.” But it really is that easy. A writer just needs to know a little tidbit and turn it into a short story and soon enough a book.
On the side she love to read, take pictures, walk, exercise, go to the movies and listen to music. Sharon is a budding bird watcher and learning to crochet on the side. She run a book club in town but also is a member of one at a local library. She is a huge sports fan which includes baseball, basketball hockey and football.
